Introduction and Front Pictorial Review: Generations Swerve and Flanker (Scout Class)

Hello readers and fellow bloggers. For a small introduction, this blog will be dedicated to reviews on Transformers toys and products and also toy robots that are "in relation" to Transformers produced by 3rd party companies. I'm not gonna go into details on what are 3rd party companies, unofficial Transformers figures and what not. By now most fans would already know what they are.

As an introduction of myself, I'm not gonna go into details as well since this blog is is for toy reviews. But just fyi, I used to write blogs before and I am toy collector. I collect a few different kinds of toys but my biggest in my collection is Transformers. I am a Transformers fan. Long time fan. Since Generation One. So you could probably guess what Transformers lines I collect most. ;)

This blog is my personal own and also and affiliate with TransMY group. TransMY is a Transformers fans group in Malaysia. For more info on TransMY you may visit here www.transmy.com or Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/transmy and Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/transmy/. TransMY is currently building a review community. That is to say there are some members of TransMY will be doing reviews on Transformers toys and Transformers related products. Like mine here is one of them.

To start, here is my first review on a Transformers toy. I'll start small as I am rusty in reviewing and still looking for good picture setup. Below here we have one the new waves of the Transformers Generations line. Scout class Swerve and Flanker. I'm still using the old size reference (scout) as I am not that familiar with the new terms. I think that would suffice.

Swerve as we know already been released before in the Generations line.
This Deluxe Swerve is based on Deluxe Kup mold. It's basically a repaint with a new head. This year, 2014, Hasbro released a new mold for Swerve that is a Scout class.
Front View Package

Packaging is similar the previously released scout class Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, Megatron and Starscream. Apparently this time each of these scout class figures comes with a Targetmaster-like partner.

Back View Package

Back view as always there's the bio of the figure pictures of robot and alternate modes for both figures.

Here is the figure itself. Robot mode.

Recently Hasbro has been providing us with many new and good designs in the Generations line. Year 2013 I think we've received many repaints that we're getting sick of. But this year so far has been good. About this figure, as you can see it is totally new mold. The design closely resembles its G1 counterpart. As I always like to call it, the updated modern G1 design. Details and paint job on this figure is close to perfect. Consists with only three major colours is already enough to show the details of this figure.

Articulation:

He has quite a range of articulation. The knees you can bend all the way due to its transformation. There's ball jointed elbows and shoulders. Range of motion in shoulders a little limited but already enough for the figure. The head unfortunately, there is no neck articulation. You can't turn his head left and right. It can be tilted upwards a little though. Joints are good.

Alternate mode:

Alternate mode he is a mini pick up truck. Like I said before, the paint job on him is close to perfect. The rims are grey and not just plain black plastic colour. Solid black windshield and windows. Front grill and bumper and headlights are painted.

Now let's move on to his new partner. The name's Flanker. Despite how small he is, he is a triple-changer. A jet, a robot and a gun. Jet mode first.

The box does not say what kind of a jet he is. Again the paint is is nice even on this small figure. The Autobot logo on both its wings are perfect. Not much to say about it in jet mode. Let's move to Robot mode.

And again I say, for a small figure his details and paint jobs are good. Though not much colour but it seemed already pretty neat. There's no articulation though except at the shoulders. And on we move to his third mode. The gun mode.

Like a Targetmaster, the gun mode can be used both in Swerve's alternate mode and robot mode. Both are also seemed neat.

Size comparisons.
Swerve and Flanker

Here he is together with the earlier released of Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. Swerve is a minobot in G1. To pair him with this Bumblebee would look nice but definitely off scale with Optimus. He even looked a little bigger than Optimus.

Here together with Classics deluxe Cliffjumper and Henkei voyager Convoy/Optimus Prime. For me personally I would stick with this formation.

My conclusion is that this a really nice figure. For scout class figure he is really fun to play with. And of course because of his size, he is perfect to be played with Metroplex. My guess that is the initial intention anyways. Don't you guys agree? ;)

That's it for now guys. Will do more reviews with more figures. Until then, Till All Are One!
